ANB
Futbol Academy is very pleased to announce its 2011 summer plans
October
14, 2010 (RELEASE) --
U-13
(1998 born) team
The Academys U-13 team has once again been invited to participate in The
Jean Pingeon Tournament (Tournoi Jean Pingeon) in Caen, France, in May, 2011.
This tournament is one of the most sought after trophies for U-11 and U-13
teams in France. Last year, out of 36 teams in the U-13 age group, 20
professional clubs were represented including SM Caen (hosts), Le Havre, Paris
St. Germain, Lille, and Nice. SM Caen has invited ANB Futbol Academy to the
tournament once again, based on their performance in 2010 and the strong
relationship which has been formed. All team expenses will be covered between
the host club and a private sponsor. The Tournoi Jean Pingeon is an
invitation-only tournament and ANB Futbol Academy is honored to be invited to
such a top-class event. Additionally, the team has been accepted into the
prestigious Welsh International Super Cup (formally known as The Ian Rush
Tournament) in July, 2011. This tournament will be in its 27th year and
features professional youth academies from the United Kingdom, and other
European countries. Coaches from Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton and
other professional clubs continually scout players in this tournament to find
the next Steven Gerrard (previous player in the tournament). Head
Coach Rob Jung says, We are excited about the acceptance into these two
tournaments, however, we know there is a lot of work to do to ensure the team
is well prepared for the European competition. ANBs acceptance was
strongly based on the teams performance in The Foyle Cup where excellent
results were obtained this past summer.
U-14 (1997 born) and U-16 (1995/1996 born) teams
ANB Academys U-14 and U-16 teams have been accepted to participate in The
Foyle Cup (Northern Ireland) once again. In July, 2011, the tournament will be
in its 19th year and will be the third year that ANB Futbol Academy has been
accepted. Last summer, ANB teams (U-12 & U-16) performed very well, going
undefeated in round-robin competition and missing the top playoff round on goal
difference. Based on the teams results, one player was asked to attend a
week trial in the youth academy of Wolverhampton Wanderers of the English
Premier League.
International ID Camp
Plans are underway to host ANBs third annual International ID Camp in
June 2011. Last year, scouts from England, France and the USA attended the
weekend event and two players from ANB Futbol Academy were asked to attend
trials at SM Caen during the early summer. Another player from outside the
Academy was scouted by Auxerre.
Academy Director Bassam Naim says, 2011 has already started to look very
promising for all our programs. Being accepted into these prestigious
tournaments speaks volumes on the reputation the Academy is gaining in the
international futbol scene.
ANB Futbol Academy continues to receive players looking to try-out in any of
its programs, as well as try-out on any of the teams listed above.
ANB academy's vision is to become Canadas leading soccer development
organization. Its mission is to identify Canadian soccer talent, and to
maximize the potential of players at any level, through professional coaching
and training.
