ANB
Academy Director Bassam Naim and Guyana Womens Technical Director
- Mark Rodrigues came to an agreement whereby ANB Academy would be the official
training center in Ontario, Canada for the Guyana Womens National Team
Toronto based players. Training started immediately following this agreement,
and will continue through the final stage of CONCACAF Womens World Cup
Qualifying scheduled to start on October 28th, 2010 in Cancun, Mexico.
Academy Director Bassam Naim and his highly qualified staff have already
put a number of national team members through several rigorous training
sessions. A number of high level female academy players have had the privilege
to train alongside these international athletes at these sessions. Guyana
Womens National Soccer Team created history in their country by
qualifying for this final stage of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying by defeating
Cuba on July 3rd in Guyana by a score of 3-1. History for Guyana was made on
this day as no other team (male or female) had ever advanced this far in World
Cup Qualifying at any age.
Academy Director Bassam Naim has accepted an invitation to continue his
work with the National Team at a training camp in Tampa, Florida from Oct
21-26, then travel with the team to Cancun for their first game on Oct
28th.
