ANB Futbol will highlight the bodys 3 main energy systems: Aerobic,
Anaerobic 'A' Lactic and Anaerobic Lactic
Aerobic Energy System
Aerobic exercise involves training at a sub-maximal intensity over a period of
time ranging from two minutes to several hours. The main sources of fuel or
energy for this system are stored carbohydrates (at higher intensities) and
stored fats (at lower intensities).
Anaerobic 'A' Lactic Energy System
Anaerobic exercise involves training at a maximal or near-maximal intensity
lasting from 0 to 120 seconds. The anaerobic a lactic system is the main energy
supplier for the first 10 seconds of such exercise.
Anaerobic Lactic Energy System
The anaerobic lactic energy system is the main energy supplier from 10 to 120
seconds of maximal- or near maximal-intensity exercise. It is called the lactic
energy system because exercise of this nature results in the production of
lactic acid a painful by-product in the muscles.
